The boom swings independently of the rotation of the house. The primary purpose of boom swing is for offset digging around obstacles or along foundations, walls, and forms. A secondary use is cycling in areas too narrow for cab rotation. Independent boom swing is one of the major advantages of a compact excavator over other excavation equipment.

A centralized grease bank makes fast, simple work of lubricating the slew bearing and slew pinion. With the easy-to-access zerk fittings, it’s simple and easy to reach the well-protected grease cylinder fittings.

The 18DS comes standard with auxiliary service ports fitted for hydraulic powered attachments.

When operating one-way hydraulic attachments, like hydraulic breakers, the standard third-line auxiliary return system allows the hydraulic oil to flow directly back to the hydraulic tank without running through the control valves. This means less risk oil contamination, reduced back pressure, and greater overall oil flow efficiency is achieved.

The 18DS model features an easy-to-use track tensioning system. Simply remove the small cover plate to expose the tension-adjustment nut. Simply loosen the nut to allow the grease to escape. Simply add grease to tighten the tracks.

The 18DS model features a rear engine compartment that can be easily accessed. By opening the engine access door, you can reach the dipstick, filters, radiator, belts and other important components. This serviceability makes preventative maintenance easier.
